Early weather warning: More snow and high winds Tuesday and Wednesday
Montreal-area drivers and pedestrians have been given a head start in weather preparedness.
In a weather warning issued Sunday for Montreal, Châteauguay-La Prairie, Laval and Longueuil-Varennes, Environment Canada says to prepare for heavy snow and blowing snow from Tuesday evening through Wednesday. Caution is advised for drivers and pedestrians.
The low-pressure system that will blanket the eastern seaboard will begin earlier Tuesday, but quickly intensify in the evening, with heavy precipitation continuing through Wednesday for a total of between 15 and 30 cm.
The St. Lawrence Valley, between Montreal and Tadoussac, and the Outaouais region could receive up to 40 cm.
Quickly accumulating snow and blowing snow could make travel very difficult as strong winds, combined with the snow, cause significantly reduced visibility.
This is only the latest in extreme weather in the Montreal area; most recent were the extreme high winds on Friday.
