SNX: The Best Shoes Out This Week, Featuring The Adidas Consortium Ultraboost 19 And Nike Fear of God

jjjjound/puma/Uproxx

Over the weekend, sneakerheads and casual shoe-lovers everywhere almost broke their phones dealing with yet another crash on Nike SNKRS app while trying to purchase Travis Scott’s Air Jordan 1. Which means the company is due for a rant. Yo Nike, you’re worth $28 billion, under no circumstances should you have an app that isn’t able to handle the traffic of a hotly anticipated release. When a person, well, in this case, a company (thanks a lot Citizen’s United) continually makes the same mistake, its a sign that they might be insane. Are you insane Nike? No? Then get it together.

Anyway, weekend Twitter drama aside, this week we have a lot of dope releases on schedule for you. This is the first time in SNX history where each shoe is repping a different brand, and we didn’t even have to struggle to make that happen. It’s an SNX miracle, but don’t get used to it, the big brands have quite the schedule ahead of them for the rest of May.

For now, here are the dopest shoes dropping this week and where to find them.

Adidas Consortium Ultraboost 19

Sneakersnstuff

This week Adidas Consortium is dropping three new region-exclusive takes on UltraBOOST 19 and, in rare form, the US exclusive is the best of the bunch. Featuring an SL-80 inspired design, the US-exclusive Consortium Ultraboost features a striking blue and gold colorway over a lightweight primeknit upper atop a Boost midsole.

In top-tier Consortium fashion, the new Ultraboosts also feature a Jacques Chassaing designed torsion bar for increased stability and support. The colors don’t exactly say “springtime” but these look dope no doubt.

The Adidas Consortium Ultraboost 19 are set to drop on May 20th at Consortium stockists like Sneakersnstuff. The Adidas Consortium Ultraboost 19 is set to retail at $219, move fast though, these are sure to sell out.

Puma Karl Lagerfeld Roma Polka Dot

Puma

Karl Lagerfeld passed this February but his mark on the fashion world isn’t going to fade anytime soon. Need proof of the visionary power of the fashion legend? Look no further than the Puma Roma Polka Dot, made in collaboration with Lagerfeld before his passing. Only Karl Lagerfeld could make the polka dot pattern look this sophisticated and moody.

Featuring a premium leather upper, a padded collar, full lace closure, atop a two-toned EVA foam midsole for added cushioning, the Karl Lagerfeld Polka Dots make use of Puma’s 60’s styled Roma silhouette. This is about as classy as a pair of Pumas could ever get.

The Puma Karl Lagerfeld Roma Polka Dots are available now. Pick up a pair at the Puma webstore where they retail for $130.

Converse GOLF le FLEUR

Converse

Look around you and you’ll see that today’s modern streetwear is directly inspired by Seinfeld. There isn’t a lot of difference between what George Costanza wears and what a lot of modern hype beasts rock on the streets, aside from the labels attached. So it doesn’t come as a complete surprise to me that Converse and Tyler the Creator (a 90s nostalgist himself) have teamed up for a new Costanza-approved all velvet take on the Converse One Star and Chuck 70 silhouette.

If you haven’t seen Seinfeld, the show contained a running joke that George Costanza had a desire to drape himself entirely in velvet as a sign of leisure and luxury — told you this guy is a modern hype beast — much to the disdain of those around him. Athleisure was far from a thing in the 90s, what a world.

If you’re a fan of the Chuck 70 or the One Star and can’t get enough velvet, these are definitely for you! Both pairs feature Tyler’s signature flower motif, a quilted velvet upper and Golf le FLEUR and Converse branding.

The GOLF le FLEUR Quilted Velvet pack are set to drop on May 17th, where they’ll retail for $100 each. Pick up a pair at Converse’s online store or at Golf Wang.

Nike Air Fear of God Raid

Nike

Nike has once again teamed up with streetwear designer Jerry Lorenzo and the pair have come up with their best collaboration yet. Utilizing Nike’s 90’s Air Raid silhouette, Lorenzo’s Fear of God brand updates the design to feature a leather and textile-based upper, a thin wrap-around swoosh and responsive Nike Air cushioning.

We’re really digging on the design simplicity here, particularly the elegant air bubble and egg-shell sole. The Fear of God Moccasins are also a good pick if you’re looking for something a little less sneaker-y.

The Nike Air Fear of God Raid is set to drop on May 17th and will retail for $190. Pick up a pair at Nike’s online store.
