Welcome to the 8-Day Guide to Overcoming Anxiety. You took an important step in signing up, and I'm so glad that you did. Anxiety has been a growing problem in the United States and worldwide for years, with the number of people with anxiety disorders and even just excessive stress levels steadily increasing. Recent events have only made the problem worse, and a lot of people are suffering mightily. But there is help, and there is hope.
A little about me, as we begin this challenge together: I'm a licensed clinical psychologist and speaker on the faculty of Georgetown University who has been working with individuals with anxiety for more than twenty years. A lot of you know me from the previous Detox Your Thoughts challenge, which grew into a book that's being released the very week this challenge begins. I've spent a career studying the mental health data and translating it into real-world change, and you can find me across many media platforms bringing the science of psychology to life.
Now, I'm excited to help you on your own path toward change. And while this challenge should not be considered a substitute for one-on-one psychotherapy, I'm confident that together, we can make a difference for you.
