AN INTIMATE, EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH MICHELLE VALBERG BY MARK EDWARD HARRIS At Home in Nature While Nikon Canada Ambassador, Light & Motion Master of Light, and Canadian Geographic Photographer-in-Residence Michelle Valberg has traveled to all seven continents on assignment, she finds her native Canada an endless source of inspiration. The results of her three-decade camera-in-hand explorations have not only graced the pages of countless magazines and hung on the walls of numerous exhibition spaces and embassies worldwide, but they have also been reproduced on postage stamps and on a Royal Canadian Mint coin. Valberg is a strong believer in giving back, both to the photo community through workshops and lectures as well as to society in general. In 2009, she founded Project North, a not-for-profit organization delivering education and sport-based opportunities to youth in Canada's remote Arctic regions.

MARK EDWARD HARRIS The Koalas Of Kangaroo "It's been almost a year since I walked down Church Road on Kangaroo Island, where the smell of death could not be escaped. As an American, the carnage before my eyes was reminiscent of Timothy H. O'Sullivan's "Harvest of Death" photograph of the battlefield at Gettysburg. For the Australians on Kangaroo Island, perhaps Gallipoli would come to mind. But the enemy was not an opposing army, and the bodies were not those of soldiers but countless animals unable to escape the onslaught of the bushfires that consumed half their island. While the country as a whole lost an estimated one billion animals in the bushfires, the impact on the fauna of Kangaroo Island was particularly devastating. For those that did survive the flames and smoke, starvation due to habitat loss has led to countless more deaths."

CHRIS TUFF The art of being in the right place at the right time "I have always felt a primal, spiritual connection to the sea and moved to the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall, UK, almost twenty years ago to live closer to it. Being on a beach where shore, sea, and sky meet and meld presents an infinite range of creative possibilities. Being exposed to the elements, the wind's feeling on your face, and the soporific sound and movement of the ocean is meditative. In this sense, my images are a visceral reaction to the landscape, resulting from sensory immersion in the elements." Chris Tuff is an international, award-winning Photographer and Director. As a film-maker, his work has received numerous accolades and awards, including grand, gold, silver, and bronze awards at the New York International Film and TV Festival, US Film Festival, IVCA, Questar, and Mercury Awards.

EITAN VITKON THE LOCKDOWN PROJECT "As the world adjusted to Covid's limitations, most cultural institutions were forced to close their doors. Theaters, dance companies, and artists are now reaching their audience by streaming live and producing videos to watch online. As a photographer of performances, I too needed to make some changes. I brought a cinema projector to my studio and converted it into a screening room. While screening the show on my studio walls, I take pictures as it works in the "real" world, though this time, it is taken with a mediating tool. Eitan Vitkon Born in 1967 in a small village in the south of Israel. Eitan Vitkon is an acclaimed contemporary autodidact photographer whose work has been exhibited In museums and galleries worldwide. In 1996, Eitan moved to New York from Tel Aviv to continue studying architecture, eventually receiving a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Pratt Institute in 1999. During his architecture studies, Vitkon developed a passion for photography, using the camera to sustain a creative mental space. Combining both architecture and photography, Vitkon's main interest became capturing abstract urban landscapes focusing on the passage of time in a still frame.

JOSÉ JEULAND 2020 BIG SURPRISES "I turned a negative situation into a very positive one. In the end, I was so busy that I did not have time to do much sports after all. I also wanted to increase my skills in editing but did not have the time. In June, I started getting jobs month after month; I was getting more and more. I fixed the highest goals for myself, only to accomplish them happily. In the last quarter of this year, my experiences and opportunities surpassed my own expectations - something I will always be proud of." José Jeuland, a French photographer, based in Singapore. Ex-Professional Triathlete turned Professional Photographer. Based in Singapore, Jose manages COCO Creative Studio, where he produces commercial photography and videography work.Jose works with international clients as JW Marriott, Shangri-La, The Fullerton, Grab, Amazon, Expedia, etc.

NIKHAIL ASNANI light painting in my safe zone "My series of light paintings is a collection that has been taken during the quarantine. Here I explore light art therapy as a way to convey my need for connection, social distance love, my anxiety surrounding the coronavirus, the solitude of this experience, and how I found beauty from within in this time. Self-love has been a huge part of this photography endeavor; it has allowed me to come to terms with some of my imperfections and feel strong and confident as a person. In the dark, light painting allowed me to turn my room's landscape into a place of wonder and imagination." "Originally I am a screenwriter and filmmaker by trade, so I did learn to use a camera in a certain respect. My skills were developed when I lived in Hong Kong, which was for most of my life, and I took a photography class for fun; however, I did not take a lot of photos until many years later when I tried to use this skill of mine to entertain a love interest, in a sense it was courting which sounds so medieval but like my films, my photography comes from a place of wanting as Lady Gaga might call it 'Stupid Love.'"

JAMIE JOHNSON Le Petit Cirque "Shortly after I returned home, the world started closing. All of my scheduled book signings were one by one canceled. Enjoying the downtime and my deep dive into Netflix, I was also in need of some artistic inspiration. Like a miracle, I was referred by a friend to an amazing children's circus, right here in Los Angeles! If you don't know me, all of my work is about children. I have a special spot in my heart for my current projects, the Irish Traveller children, the French Gypsy children on the Riviera, and the nomad families traveling around rural Asia. The circus was right up my alley! I have spent the remaining months of 2020 photographing the children of Le Petit Cirque. I have found my inspiration and finally taken my pajamas off and turn off Netflix." Jamie Johnson is a Los Angeles photographer specializing in children's documentary projects. Her work has been exhibited internationally in galleries and museums from New York thru London and Paris and has been published in dozens of magazines.

ELLIE DAVIES SEASCAPES, 2020 "The exploration of my relationship with forest landscapes has always been a central theme of my photographic practice; how it formed, evolved, and continues to change. I have considered our contemporary and collective sense of alienation from the natural world, the theoretical perceptions of beauty and the sublime, and the commodification of landscape as a leisure facility and resource. My work reflects on how our personal experiences of, and interactions with, landscape are shaped by the wider cultural perceptions of forests, which come to us through the colored prisms of storytelling and mythology, literature, fine art, and the more contemporary narratives of climate change." Ellie Davies (Born 1976) lives in Dorset and works in the woods and forests of Southern England. She gained her MA in Photography from the London College of Communication in 2008. She is represented by Crane Kalman Brighton Gallery in the UK, Patricia Armocida Gallery in Milan, Susan Spiritus Gallery in California, A.Galerie in Paris, Brussels, and Brucie Collections in Kyiv. Stars 8 was awarded 'Fine Art Single Image Winner' in the Magnum Photography Awards 2017, which was exhibited at The Photographers Gallery in London.

GALINA SEMENOVA "A Journey Into Thyself" "This self-portrait series is the sum of a deep introspective process that led to my empowerment as a woman. I found respect, immersive beauty, and personal power by uncovering myself, petal after petal, feeling, sitting with myself, accepting." - GALINA SEMENOVA Galina Semenova is a self-taught Fine Art Portrait Photographer who lives and works in San Diego, California. She was born in Tula, Russia, in 1981 and relocated to the States in 2009. Semenova's work is a response to the pressure-filled, patriarchal culture she left behind in Russia and the youth/beauty, a power-obsessed culture, she now experiences in America. Semenova's photography presents women and their stories and documents their lives in such a feminine, powerful, and touching way. Each photograph she takes reflects a part of her, of who she is.
