DeVonta Smith, the Heisman winner, had three touchdowns as Alabama beat Ohio State, 52-24, to win the national college football championship.

The teams were trading scores before Alabama started separating itself near the end of the second quarter. DeVonta Smith had three touchdowns and 215 receiving yards in the first half, then left the game in the second half with an injured right hand.

Ohio State did not seriously threaten the Crimson Tide in the second half.
