Give your gut some TLC with this fibre-filled soup

If improving your health is at the top of your list this year, there's no better place to start than with your gut. Your digestive system is the powerhouse of both your body and mind – helping you to get stronger, improve your mood and support your immune system.

So keep it well-fed with this nourishing soup made with courgettes that contain insoluble fibre (which feeds the good bacteria in your intestines) and chickpeas (proven to prevent the overgrowth of bad bacteria while also helping digestion). This soup will do the work for your gut, so your gut can do the work for you.

Stylist's fitness editor Meriam Ahari found a multi-functional sports bra that's worth shouting about.

What? Samdura Pacific Top, £62

What is it? An eco-conscious sports bra that can also be worn as a swim top.

The verdict: "As a fitness editor, I'm inundated with new sports bras to review but it's rare that I find one worth shouting about. But I really love this one from Samudra, a British brand that launched this year. The design is simple, but the cut is so unique and flattering (with a stylish criss-cross back) – plus, I love the shiny sheen of the black fabric. It's described as providing light support, but I found it kept me lifted and held in even throughout HIIT workouts (I wore it while doing burpees).

Even better, it's made in London and fashioned out of regenerated ocean plastic and other nylon waste – which is remarkable considering how silky it feels. The description says it provides muscular compression (not surprising considering how secure the fit is), plus it's sweat-wicking and chlorine resistant. Also, 5% of the brand's profits fund female-focused marine conservation projects worldwide. I can't see what's not to love about this product – and the matching high-waisted leggings (which I'm also wearing in this photo) are just as great.
