Everything The Simpsons Has Predicted in 2021 and Beyond

People have been trying to predict the future for as long as we've been around as a species—Nostradamus, the Mayans, Miss Cleo (may she rest in peace). They've all taken their shots (and subsequent misses) at predicting what is to come in our lifetimes. Most notably, we seem to keep missing the end of the world, may it come soon and swiftly. But perhaps we've been looking in the wrong place. If any one entity is going to correctly forecast our demise, it's likely going to be the long-running animated series, The Simpsons. For over three decades, the series has thrived with a dedicated audience invested in the hijinks of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie. But the catch is that despite many of its storylines being asinine beyond belief, they end up getting mimicked in real life later on. Whether that's strange, unconscious manifestation or clairvoyance is up to you to decide, but it's impossible to look at The Simpsons and not feel a bit uneasy about how spot on the FOX show seems to be about what's to come. Even creepier, the show seems to be getting it right with increasing accuracy. "It's a little sad that something you put in a show as a joke because it was so crazy came true," longtime Simpsons showrunner Al Jean told Esquire shortly after they predicted Donald Trump becoming president. Below is a look at some of their greatest hits. From tiger attacks to Trump presidency, it's best to keep an eye on The Simpsons. Wise are those who prepare via an animated TV series. These Are the Best Sweats Sets We've Tried in Ages

We at Esquire believe that even in the After Times, when we're dressing to go out again, very good sweats will remain a part of our daily conversation. Enter Everlane, the DTC darling dead-set on making sure that's the case—at least if today's launch of the new "Track" collection is anything to go by. Everlane VP of design Sonia Martin calls pieces like sweatpants and hoodies the "starting point" in a guy's wardrobe. "So we set out to make these styles even better than anything he's worn before," she says, "especially since it's now his everyday look." Of course, all of that doesn't do you a lot of good if the styles themselves don't deliver. But these do. The pants manage to walk the dangerous line between "couch-only baggy" and "fashion-victim tight" with precision, offering up a fit that's slim enough to wear comfortably out in the world, but chilled-out enough to suggest that, yes, you are aware that you're wearing sweatpants. And the best part? The whole collection tops out at $60. Read More

The 16 Essential T-Shirt Brands Every Man Should Know (and Replenish From)

We're living through historic times for the T-shirt. The basic tee, once imbued so indelibly with ties to the counter-culture courtesy of associations with on-screen badasses like Brando and Dean, is now so innocuous it's downright mainstream. These days, you could even say the T-shirt has become the de facto building block of the everyday outfit, long since replacing stuffier counterparts like the collared shirt, let alone (*checks notes*) the suit. All of which means there have never been more options to choose from. And while we're ever-thankful for the variety, it can sure get a little overwhelming. Luckily for you, we sifted through the nearly endless supply of T-shirts available now to track down the 16 brands responsible for our favorites, with the recommendation that if you happen to find a style you dig, you stock up on it—and fast. From tees that are cut cropped and boxy, to tees that are longer and trim throughout the body, to tees that cling to your torso in exactly the way you want them to, we cover 'em all. And if you're looking for an ultra-sturdy option, or an option made out of super-soft cotton, or something you could work out in, or a tee studiously crafted out of some of the most sustainable materials on the planet, we got them too. Scroll through below to find the right one for you, and then wear yours with literally every single piece in your closet. Read More
