Colorado Judicial Department misconduct. Mindy Masias, former chief of staff for the Colorado Supreme Court Administrator's office, was on the verge of filing a lawsuit against members of the state's chief legal entity, detailing more than 20 instances of sexual discrimination. To keep her from doing so, the Colorado Judicial Department awarded her a $2.5 million, five-year contract in March 2019, according to the state's chief court administrator. (Denver Post)
Colorado COVID-19 Vaccine Finder. Most websites where people can go to make vaccine appointments—including those run by local hospitals and pharmacies, as well as the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment—have proven incredibly difficult to navigate, even for people with above-average computer skills. In order to fix the problem, a local software engineer created a website, which allows people to easily find out if a pharmacy near them has vaccine available and schedule an appointment. (Westword)
Accurate weather readings. Currently, the weather station that gauges atmospheric conditions for the Mile High City can be found at Denver International Airport. That's a problem considering that location is some 17 miles from downtown Denver. Next week, however, the City Council will vote on whether to revive an old weather station at the former Stapleton airport in order to get readings that are more relevant to the city center. Australian woman Penny Rohleder shared a photo of her son's drawing on the Facebook page of blogger Constance Hall on Jul. 25, which well, says it all.
