The Dish: The Return Of English Ivy's

May 25

This Sunday, thousands of race fans will lug their coolers toward the gates of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, a sweaty pilgrimage that is as much a month-of-May tradition as sunburns and Koozies. Those who know what they're doing will have some sustenance wedged between the cans of liquid refreshment—boxed lunches from Shapiro's, some grown-up Lunchables from Wildwood Market, or maybe a stash of Batali's from Goose the Market. Race day is also the perfect occasion to indulge in the surprisingly delicious alchemy of cold fried chicken. It's arguably even better than the piping-hot version, whether you're eating it trackside or in your backyard with the radio tuned in to the pageantry.
