Late last week, I did a video on Instagram about what to do when you cannot remove a Negative Nelly from your life. You should check that video out if it applies to you. BUT the reason I make mention of it is because I talk about how important it is to put forth the effort to find people who are like YOU.

And yes, it is work. And yes, it does take time. But yes it IS worth it. Every time I delve into this topic I get questions from folks:

But where do I find these people?

I'm looking but no one is biting!


From a personal perspective, I prayed for a close few friends for a long time. It didn't happen overnight for me because I'm an introvert. But gradually, I kept praying and making an effort, and God brought a few DEAR DEAR friends into my life. I am so thankful for them.

One of them I met via my husband's job that both of questioned why he was there.

Another I met IN THE AIRPORT. So...first note, don't stop praying.


Second, be yourself. When you are, you draw like-minded folks to you. And yes, that requires either being active in in-person groups or being active online. You cannot find your people by sitting alone on the couch. You just can't.


Third, be active in groups - find hobby groups, church groups, interest groups. I"m scared of mom groups, so I avoid those. Ha ha! The groups you engage can be in person or online. Meet new folks. Make new friends. Chat. Be yourself. Have fun.

...And the right people will come.

Kid draws a hilarious family portrait, featuring his mother on her period

Periods are normal, but kids pointing them out in their sketches is something else. Australian woman Penny Rohleder shared a photo of her son's drawing on the Facebook page of blogger Constance Hall on Jul. 25, which well, says it all. SEE ALSO: James Corden tests out gymnastics class for his son and is instantly showed up by children "I don't know whether to be proud or embarrassed that my 5 year old son knows this," Rohleder wrote.  "Julian drew a family portrait. I said 'What's that red bit on me?' And he replied, real casual, 'That's your period.'"  Well, at least he knows.
