July 22, 2021 No. 42 With kindergarten starting in the fall (sigh), we're getting a head start on home organization — especially my daughter's toy cave, a.k.a. her bedroom. This flip-top desk and this cube system are our tidy-space all stars. —Thao
We're in the midst of a beautiful, blazing summer, and no home screams summer more joyfully than Ashley Wilson's two-bedroom Pink Palm Hideaway on the Florida coast. Wilson is a full-time blogger who runs the DIY home site At Home with Ashley, where she takes readers through her many projects in her Florida beach house, as well as her Utah home, where the family of three lives the majority of the year.
The family enjoys everything the beach has to offer during those precious winter months when the weather in Florida is absolutely perfect, and the intense heat hasn't yet descended. And life in the Pink Palm Hideaway does sound pretty dreamy. cubby a-ha! ⭐ Looking for unique art for a child's room? cubby finds: modern dollhouses ask maxwell I've been finding that I use television as a rescue tool too often for my 5-year-old daughter. Do you have any easy alternatives to cure boredom and/or exhaustion that don't involve screens? —Jo Anna Dear Jo Anna,
This is probably the TOUGHEST problem vexing us parents in this day and age. It was far easier when a house had only ONE television and it was LARGE and lived in a room by ITSELF — and it didn't have much that was good on it for kids except a few hours each day. Maxwell Ryan is a father and was an elementary school teacher in NYC before founding Apartment Therapy. He'd love to answer your question: askmaxwell@cubbyathome.com
