First up we have the creepy trend of “Cursed Images,” the conspiracy theory “QAnon” (which might be older than you think), Jasmine Masters’ classic catchphrase “And I Oop” and the game that everyone is probably sick of hearing about — “Among Us.” | | As we approach the end of Spooktober, the creepy internet trend known as Cursed Images feels quite apt. Pictures like these that are deemed “cursed” are generally photographs that are seen as disturbing to the viewer, often abnormal or illogical, sometimes seen as the visual equivalent to Creepypasta. The idea was originally started on Tumblr but has since spread to every platform and become a common term all around the web. Read more. | | Despite sweeping headlines earlier this year during the storming of the U.S. Capitol, QAnon actually originated way back in 2017. A series of cryptic and conspiratorial posts released on 4chan, and later 8chan, this conspiracy stems from a user identified as "Q" (short for "Q Clearance") that shared “drops” on message boards like these with alleged insider information that snowballed into one of history’s wildest internet tales. The beloved catchphrase came during a moment when Masters accidentally hits herself in the “crown jewels,” uttering the line “And I Oop,” which would go on to express interrupting oneself because of a shocking revelation.
