Young Research Library, UCLA A century ago, an African American couple named Charles and Willa Bruce, built a successful beachfront resort called Bruce's Beach Lodge just south of Los Angeles that welcomed Black beachgoers. But the Bruces were run out of Manhattan Beach after their property was seized by the city. For years, the land was owned by the county of Los Angeles — until last month, when California passed a law that allowed the property to be transferred back to the couple's descendants.  Today’s listens DC Comics DC Comics announced that Superman's teenage son will be romantically involved with a male friend in a comic to be published in November. It's a big deal — sort of.
