Where You Should Travel This Holiday Season

The images of couples embracing brought to mind the legendary "V-J Day in Times Square" image of the sailor kissing the nurse after returning from World War II—and in a way we have been living through our own kind of war. The threat of new restrictions in Europe, and a cavalcade of other news about the virus's ebbs and flows, remind us that we're not through it yet, but we are making progress.
For further proof of that, look no further than the breathtakingly successful restart of the cruise industry, which has been underway for several months now. Throughout the pandemic we have extensively covered the impact on the cruise industry and what passengers can expect in the future, but until recently we hadn't had any reporters on ships to experience cruising, because there were no ships to put reporters on. Thankfully that has changed, and this week we will bring you three different looks at what it feels like to cruise in this moment: Ashlea Halpern, one of CNT's most trusted contributors, checks in from Iceland with Viking; Marisa Meltzer, another of our favorites, writes on the pleasures of cruising solo on the Duoro with Scenic; and Madison Flager, one of our intrepid editors, experiences a Seabourn cruise in the Caribbean from the perspective of someone who grew up in the world of cruise. Those stories, along with lots of insight into what trips to book next year, are just the start of a lot of great cruise coverage coming your way.
