New Year’s Eve Menus
Resolutions are being drafted, Christmas leftovers are being polished off, and New Year's Eve is steadily approaching. What will be in your clinking glasses? Don't worry, for the Champagne drinkers out there we've got the bubbly-based cocktails to toast with style. Not into the sparkling, or trying to start the year off on a booze-free note? We've got shrubs, punches, and mocktail recipes for you to whip up as well.
Now that we've got the drinks and clinks covered, what are you going to end your year eating?! To help you figure it out, we've put together dinner party menus for every type of eater. For a celebration full of meat-lovers, dive into dishes like coffee- and cumin-rubbed skirt steak and mustard-coated pork chops. As a starter, make simple skewers out of bread, prosciutto, and chicken; the fat from the prosciutto coats the bread and adds some salty flavors to the chicken as it all cooks together.
We've also put together vegan, vegetarian, and pescatarian menus that feature delicious dinner ideas like sweet potato gratin, basted maitake mushrooms, and seared cod in an herbaceous cherry tomato sauce. Each menu comes with a dessert recipe to accompany the savory selections, so you can keep your focus on the grocery shopping and the cooking instead of scrolling through dozens of recipes.
We've had a great year sharing all things food and drink with you—and can't wait to do it all again in 2022!
Happy (almost) New Year, —Magdalena O'Neal, assistant editor
Tool of the Week: Fancy Flutes for *Clinking* With Our new favorite flutes from Anthropologie. Okay, Champagne flutes might not officially be considered a kitchen "tool" but they are a very important item to keep on your bar cart or in your cabinet for whenever a bottle of bubbly comes around. These lightly tinted Champagne flutes from Anthropologie give a slightly vintage vibe without taking too much attention away from what's actually in the glass. Lean into the color of the flutes you choose by adding a bit of edible decor to your drink. If you go for the blue flutes (my personal favorite) drop a few blueberries in the bottom of each glass. The mint shade offers a garnish idea in its name—it looks perfect with a sprig of mint. Honey luster has a golden hue that a twist of orange would really make pop. (Maybe turn your sparkling into a French 75 since you're already twisting a citrus?) However you choose to adorn these tinted flutes, your guests will surely be snapping pictures of the glittering glasses.
