On this day in meme history, the term “ROFLcopter,” was used for the first time, becoming the ultimate way to ROFL online. Finally, a scene of Jim from “The Officemiling menacingly through a set of blinds became the ultimate comedic representation of the unseen villain behind any given tragedy.

ROFLcopter: My ROFLcopter Goes Soi Soi Soi

In 2004, the first known use of the term “ROFLcopter” was recorded on a “Warcraft III” forum, used in reference to the game’s gyrocopter units, which were often mass-produced by players for the sake of trolling. Later that year, someone created the website roflcopter.com, consisting of an ASCII graphic bringing the word to life as a helicopter.
