It's Wednesday again, which, on the bright side, means we're halfway to the weekend! Hooray! And it means you've made it through half the week! I hope it's been good to you so far. But it also means it's time for another WIRED Games newsletter, so let's get started. We have a lot of great tips and explainers this week! First of all, for those of my friends who are finishing up a … certain big game and may be feeling a bit bereft now that they've done a bunch of exploring and finished main storylines and such, I want to bring your attention back to Natalie Schriefer's February piece for us about post-game depression, and what to do about it. So if you're a little lost now that you've finished everything about your favorite game and you want to do something else, here are a few suggestions to beat it back and try something fresh. So if you're looking for new games, Reece Rogers just published this great list of the best games on Xbox Game Pass right now, including some familiar titles you may have seen us discuss before. (Like Tunic! And It Takes Two! And the game I just returned to after a little time away, Outriders!) You'll see some older games in there and some new live service games as well, so there's something for everyone. And if you're not an Xbox or PC gamer and prefer your gaming sessions on the PlayStation, Jaina Grey just published a great rundown of eight great next-gen PlayStation 5 games you can play right now, which also (conveniently for me!) includes Outriders, but has other great titles as well like Deathloop and Returnal. They're all available now, and if you have a PS5, they will put that system—and your TV—to the test. You'll have a blast, we promise. Speaking of the PlayStation, if you're a subscriber to either PlayStation Plus or PlayStation Now, you may want to know about the upcoming changes to Sony's subscription gaming services. Eric Ravenscraft has the story here, and it's really not as complicated as it may sound. The new, single service will be called PlayStation Plus, and it will absorb PlayStation Now and get a bunch of new features at new tiers that you can select based on what you're looking for. Ah, but what if your preferred platform is the Nintendo Switch? We have suggestions for you too! I mean, last week I mentioned our guide to the best Switch games for every type of player, but this week we have a rundown of our favorite Nintendo Switch accessories. Screen protectors, carrying cases, headphones, and more are all in that list, so definitely check it out, especially if you're thinking of traveling with your Switch in the near future. Finally, I want to call out Adam Speight's great review of the MSI GS77 Stealth gaming laptop, which is packed with the latest portable gaming tech from Intel and Nvidia. It's a powerhouse that looks sleek and doesn't get too hot, but it comes with drawbacks, many of which will be familiar to anyone shopping for a gaming laptop. Similarly, Speight notes that it's up against some stiff competition, which may help you out if you're interested in portable gaming but the PC is your preferred platform (and you're not ready to pick up a Steam Deck or anything like that yet). I think that should do it for us this week. As always, we welcome your feedback and thoughts at games@WIRED.com, and we read every single message you send, even if we don't have a chance to respond. We should be back on a steady Twitch schedule here starting this week, as long as nothing wild happens, so I'll be back playing Young Souls tonight around 7 pm on our Twitch channel, or maybe we'll play a little of the Overwatch 2 beta, if you all are interested in that. See you there, or I'll see you back here next week. |
