Advisers to the Food and Drug Administration recommended the agency authorize another COVID-19 shot in the hopes it might entice more people to get vaccinated.   California Gov. Gavin Newsom won Tuesday’s primary as expected. He will face off against Republican state Sen. Brian Dahle in the fall. Seven states held primaries yesterday: California, Iowa, Mississippi, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico and South Dakota. Senate negotiators are racing to finalize an agreement on limited gun control proposals by the end of the week. Negotiations have narrowed proposals to address school safety, standards for safe gun storage, federal support for mental health programs and incentives for states to create red flag laws. Russia’s foreign minister is set to hold talks with Turkish officials today about a plan that could allow Ukraine to export its grain through the Black Sea. The war has halted the flow of food supplies to many developing countries, with an estimated 22 million tons of grains stuck in silos in Ukraine. The International Skating Union is raising the minimum age for athletes in its most high-profile competitions from 15 to 17. The move comes months after Russia's Kamila Valieva was caught in a storm of controversy at the Beijing Winter Olympics when she was just 15 years old. While there is much more to learn, here’s what we know so far about how the drug works. Inflation is raising prices on almost everything — except rotisserie chicken.
