If anyone understands labor issues in this country, it's U.S. Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh. As the mayor of Boston from 2014-2021, he led the creation of close to 140,000 jobs and helped secure a statewide $15/hour minimum wage, paid sick leave and paid parental leave.
As a State Representative, Walsh focused on creating good jobs, protecting workers' rights, expanding mental health treatment and investing in public transit. He also made his mark as a labor leader. After following his father into Laborers Local 223 in Boston, Walsh rose to head the Building and Construction Trades Council from 2011 to 2013.
Now, the American workforce faces a new challenge. Robotics and automation technology continue to rapidly change the way we work across an ever-growing swath of industries — including agtech, automotive, construction, labor, logistics, healthcare and more. What will happen to the hundreds of thousands of displaced workers once these technologies hit full stride?
Join us for a critical conversation with U.S. Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh about the impact of the changing face of work in America and what employers and policymakers must do to meet the challenges of these inevitable changes.
