Forget sequins – feather-trimmed pieces are reigning supreme for party season 2022

Sequins, faux fur, beading, embellishment and general OTT dressing have long been the calling cards of party season style – but one particular detail is dominating the high street this winter. Taking inspiration from Sleeper's cult pyjama sets, 16Arlington's statement designs and Taller Marmo's glamorous dresses (which count Laura Jackson as a fan), feather-trimmed garments have long been a fashion crowd favourite, and this season's faux options are better than ever. For a going out-out approach, classic black pieces will seamlessly fit in with your existing wardrobe while being anything but boring.

Already in a flap about what to wear to your glitzy office Christmas do? Thanks to Ro&Zo's feather trim jumpsuit (£119) and Vineet Bahl x Anthropologie's effortlessly chic blazer dress (£240), all that's left to do is sort your accessories. Asos has you covered for more casual gatherings with its feather-adorned high-neck (£30) and sweetheart neck jumpers (£28), with Superdown (£75) and Next (£24) also offering easy-to-wear options for an impromptu negroni sbagliato with friends. Fully signed-up member of the jeans-and-a-nice-top brigade? Update your outfit with New Look's high-waist wide-leg trousers (£29.99) while co-ord fans can take Lindex's satin feather pyjama set (£69.99) out for a spin – just don't blame us when you don't want to take it off…

You're Going To Love: The Lost Girls
In the latest of our series focusing on up-and-coming independent brands with female and non-binary founders, allow us to introduce you to The Lost Girls

What is it? Launched at the end of September, The Lost Girls is an online boutique that specialises in playful homeware products and small accessories.

Who's behind it? Textile designers Georgie Dawson and Aoife Thomas, who bonded over their shared creative passions at Nottingham Trent University. After exploring careers in fashion and other industries, their respective backgrounds in print and embroidery bought them back together to launch their own brand – the name originates from the daunting feelings they experienced when leaving the comfort of their shared uni studio space after graduating.

Why you'll love it: Whether it's to add to your own 'want that' wishlist or to gift to your nearest and dearest, finding unique home and wardrobe pieces isn't the easiest. That's where The Lost Girls' artisan creations come in. "From embroidered napkins to handcrafted ceramics and unique prints, the majority of our products are made in house by myself and Aoife, or sourced and manufactured within the UK," Georgie tells Stylist Loves. The first collection is inspired by a trip to Lisbon – we particularly love the colourful hand-embroidered headbands (from £65) – also a favourite of the duo – and the homeware such as the Peonia plates (£34) and cotton scalloped placemats (£10) are ideal for entertaining. Christmas gifting just got 384% easier. From £7, wearethelostgirls.co.uk
