Spicy tofu and peanut noodles |
1/2 block firm tofu Two servings of noodles 1/4 aubergine Small of handful broccoli Small handful of sugar-snap peas Sesame seeds 1 tbsp Banhoek Chilli Oil 1 tsp garlic 1/2 tsp Chinese 5 spice 1/2 tbsp hoisin sauce 1/2 tsp white rice vinegar 1 tbsp soy sauce 1 tsp maple syrup 1/2 tsp pepper 1 tbsp smooth peanut butter 1 tbsp Banhoek Chilli Oil 1 tbsp soy sauce 1/2 tsp white rice vinegar
1. Drain and press your tofu. Cut into small cubes. Add the tofu to a frying pan with a bit of oil so it doesn't stick. Add the chopped aubergine, broccoli and sugar snap peas to the pan. Cook for around 5 minutes on medium heat. 2. In a small bowl, combine the chilli oil, garlic, Chinese 5 spice, hoisin sauce, white rice vinegar, soy sauce, maple syrup and black pepper. Add the sauce to the tofu and veggies, and stir until everything is combined. Cook for a further 5 minutes. 3. Cook the noodles according to package instructions. Once cooked, set aside. In another small bowl, combine the peanut butter, chilli oil, soy sauce and white rice vinegar. Stir until it forms a smooth sauce and add a little bit of water (around 2 tsp) to help it become smoother. 4. Drain the noodles and pour the sauce on top. Mix until well combined. Serve the noodles in a bowl and add the cooked tofu and veggies on top. Sprinkle some sesame seeds for garnish and enjoy. Recipe: Banhoek Chilli Oil |
Energy-Boosting Tips to Put a Pep in Your Step |
W ith Christmas over and our body clocks all out of whack, January can leave us feeling sluggish and unmotivated. It's completely normal to lack energy during the winter months, however this lack of energy often leads us to refuse social plans and lose motivation for our jobs. Boosting your energy during the colder, darker months is so important in helping us stay motivated, proactive and positive. Here Martin Seeley, Sleep Expert and CEO of MattressNextDay shares his energy boosting tips that could help you this January. "Sunlight has a wonderful effect on our mood and has been scientifically proven to help boost our energy levels and improve our overall mood. During winter, there are less hours of sunlight during the day, and so it's super important to get outside as much as you can to get some of that all important vitamin D. During the week, most people work indoors and so getting outside during daylight hours can be difficult. A good way around this is to move your furniture in your home closer to any natural light. This could be your desk, bed, sofa or any piece of furniture you use often. Just having your desk placed in an area that gets natural light should help you to feel motivated and improve your mood." This National Iron Deficiency Day, we hear from Stacey Solomon on taking control of her health after being diagnosed with low iron |
If you have been suffering with fatigue, feeling run-down and generally under the weather, then, like mother-of-four and Loose Woman star Stacey Solomon discovered, your iron levels may be the culprit. Stacey, like so many other women, was quietly battling symptoms of iron deficiency without knowing what it was, and, even after being diagnosed, struggled to find the support she needed. "I found that when it comes to women's health you get this one flat baseline and they say to you, 'oh well, you're only a little bit under, you'll be fine,' and I'll be like, 'but I feel like I'm dying!' Stacey says. "When you're telling someone how your body's feeling and they are not responding because they're just looking at this one level baseline, it can be really frustrating," she adds. Click here for the supplement she takes to manage her iron levels. |
