| In the last six months, we’ve interviewed 30 photographers; 17 photo editors; three photographers’ agents; and 11 gallery owners, directors, and managers about career advice for early and mid-career photographers. In that time, we learned about how social movements shape photography culture, how photobooks are published, and what it takes to receive major grant funding. But we also learned that photographers are constantly making super avoidable mistakes—and small ones at that. This is not a list of massive slipups and faux pas. It’s a collection of things you might not even know you’re doing wrong because no one ever talks about them.
