| The Columbus Blue Jackets confirmed Friday morning the passing of Johnny Gaudreau at the age of 31.
According to New Jersey State Police, Gaudreau and his brother Matthew, 29, were struck and killed by a suspected drunk driver while riding bikes in Oldmans Township, Salem County, New Jersey on Thursday evening.
In a statement NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said "while Johnny's infectious spirit for the game and show-stopping skills on the ice earned him the nickname 'Johnny Hockey,' he was more than just a dazzling hockey player; he was a doting father and beloved husband, son, brother and teammate who endeared himself to every person fortunate enough to have crossed his path."
The Gaudreau family was all together for the wedding of their sister Katie, who was supposed to get married Friday. Tune in to CJAD 800 for continuing coverage: 800 AM, 107.3 HD-2 in Montreal, on the iHeartRadio Canada app, ask your smart speaker to play CJAD 800 or click the link below. |
