Every sales leader knows the feeling. You walk into a pipeline review with a number you believe in, and twenty minutes later, you're defending every line item to a CEO who just wants to know what's actually going to close. |
HubSpot Sales Hub ends that conversation. Every deal, every rep's activity, and every buyer signal are all in one place and updated automatically. So your forecast is built on what's actually happening. And when you present that number, you can stand behind it. |

THE LAST FAN JOHN LENNON EVER MET WAS WAITING FOR HIM WITH A GUN |
By December 1980, John Lennon had spent years away from the spotlight. After The Beatles broke up, he'd stepped back from music entirely to raise his son Sean, baking bread and living quietly in New York with Yoko Ono. |
That fall, he was finally ready to return. He released Double Fantasy, a new album with Ono, and told reporters he felt like he was starting over completely. For the first time in years, he seemed genuinely happy. |
On the afternoon of December 8, a fan approached him outside his home, The Dakota, and asked for an autograph. |
Lennon obliged, signing the man's copy of Double Fantasy without a second thought. It was a small, ordinary moment, the kind of interaction he'd had thousands of times before. |
The same evening, Lennon finished a long recording session and headed home. As he approached the entrance to The Dakota, a familiar figure stepped out of the shadows. |
It was the same man who'd gotten his autograph hours earlier. He raised a .38 revolver and fired four times. Lennon collapsed just steps from his own front door and was pronounced dead less than an hour later. |
But what drove that same fan to come back with a loaded gun traces back to a book he carried in his pocket that night. |

THE QUEEN OF SOUL GOT ONE DAY TO RECORD HER BIGGEST SONG BEFORE HER HUSBAND RUINED IT |
By 1967, Aretha Franklin had already lived several lifetimes. She'd grown up the daughter of a famous but unfaithful preacher, watched her mother leave and later die young, and built a career touring gospel circuits before she'd even finished becoming a teenager. |
Her personal life became just as complicated as her rise to fame. |
At a Detroit club, a friend introduced her to a man named Ted White, and within six months, 19-year-old Aretha married him. White quickly became not just her husband but her manager, taking control of nearly every decision in her career and personal life. |
In January 1967, Aretha and White traveled to Alabama to record at FAME Studios with the legendary Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section, one of the most respected backing bands in the industry. |
She was there to lay down a song that would go on to define her entire legacy: "I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Love You)." And she got exactly one day in the studio. |
But White inserted himself into the session and started a violent altercation with trumpeter Ken Laxton. The fight escalated fast enough that even studio owner Rick Hall got pulled into the chaos. |
The session shut down entirely, cutting Aretha's time in that legendary studio short before she'd barely begun. |
But despite everything, what came out of that chaotic single day would go on to define the rest of her career. |
