HOME ALONE'S BIGGEST STAR HAD NO IDEA HIS OWN FATHER WAS HIDING HIS FORTUNE |
Macaulay Culkin grew up one of seven children crammed into a one-bedroom Manhattan apartment, a space so small he remembers it mostly as a hallway. |
His father Kit ran the household like a ship's captain, using humiliation and physical punishment to keep his kids in line. He put them to work almost as soon as they could walk. |
Culkin started earning money at just four years old. By ten, he was the star of Home Alone, a film that would go on to earn nearly $477 million worldwide. |
And his father managed every part of his career, and every part of his money. |
As Culkin's paychecks grew into the millions, so did his father's control. |
Kit deliberately hid newspapers from his son, so Culkin couldn't see stories about his own net worth, keeping him completely in the dark about exactly how much money he had actually earned. |
When Culkin begged his father for a break from acting after years of nonstop work, Kit refused outright. |
Then in the mid-1990s, his parents' relationship finally collapsed, and the fight over Culkin's fortune became public. That's when the truth came out: Macaulay Culkin, still a teenager, was worth over $15 million, and he had no idea. |
At just 15 years old, Culkin took action. He filed suit to strip both of his parents of any control over his trust fund. The court sided with him, and Culkin walked away with the fortune he had earned since childhood. |
But years later, when asked about the son who made him millions, what Kit Culkin said about his own son left even Macaulay speechless. |

THE PRESIDENT WHO ENDED SLAVERY ALSO ORDERED AMERICA'S DARKEST MASS EXECUTION |
Abraham Lincoln is remembered as the president who held the Union together and freed millions of enslaved Americans. |
History calls him "Honest Abe," a man of deep moral conviction who guided the country through its bloodiest chapter. |
But that reputation hides a far darker decision. |
In 1862, in the frontier state of Minnesota, Dakota Native Americans rose up against the U.S. government after years of broken treaties and stolen land, killing 490 white settlers in the process. |
Military tribunals moved fast and sentenced over 300 Dakota men to death by hanging. |
The case landed on Lincoln's desk in the middle of the Civil War. He personally reviewed the trial records and significantly reduced the number of condemned men. |
Even so, he authorized the execution of 38 Dakota men. |
On December 26, 1862, all 38 were hanged simultaneously in Mankato, Minnesota. It remains the largest mass execution ever carried out on American soil. |
Now compare that to how Lincoln treated the other side of the Civil War. Confederate generals led a rebellion specifically to preserve slavery, a war that cost over 400,000 Union soldiers their lives. Despite that staggering toll, Lincoln never ordered the execution of a single Confederate general. |
But how Lincoln chose to treat the men responsible for all that bloodshed tells a very different story about who he really was. |
