How Dangerous Is North Korea’s New Missile?

Getty Image There’s very little you can take at face value when it comes to North Korea, a country that’s sentenced Trump to death for petty insults . So, the nation’s claims of a new, highly advanced missile, the Hwasong-15, are difficult to gauge in terms of the severity of threat. Yet while the Hwasong-15 shouldn’t inspire panic, it does spark concern. Here’s what we know: The Hwasong-15 missile has, in theory, a further range and a heavier payload: The Hwasong-15 allegedly doubles the range of North Korea’s last missile, the Hwasong-14, and supposedly can carry a heavier payload. We’re hedging here because we only have North Korea’s word, and second-hand information , for this, and North Korea has every reason to lie about how awesome its missile is. We use rocket science as a measure of difficulty for a reason. It may not be able to fly at the extreme ends of its range, for example, or a heavy payload might limit its range. If the Hwasong-15 is legit, it’s still more of a t

MSNBC trolls Donald Trump with Obama 'Merry Christmas' montage

According to Donald Trump, Donald Trump is solely responsible for coining the term "fake news," Making America Great Again, and of course, bringing the phrase "Merry Christmas" back into the White House. On Wednesday, Donny T. delivered a tax reform speech in St. Charles, Missouri, that started and ended with a focus on Christmas. Trump bragged and bragged about how he is the one bringing Christmas back to America, acting as though former presidents straight-up banned the holiday from the calendar or something. MSNBC decided to investigate his claims, and believe it or not, it turns out Trump's predecessor, Barack Obama, did in fact have those two words in his vocabulary. Can you imagine? Read more... Ann Curry Breaks Her Silence On Matt Lauer’s Firing: ‘Women Need To Be Able To Work Without Fear’

Getty Image In the wake of Matt Lauer’s firing from NBC News just as a slew of sexual misconduct allegations were about to be reported on, the question on most minds was what Lauer’s former Today co-host Ann Curry thought of the whole thing . Curry was famously ousted from Today in 2012, giving a tearful on-air goodbye following rumors that she and Lauer were not getting along behind the scenes. Lauer’s treatment of Curry subsequently left a bad taste in many people’s mouths. Curry did quietly comment on the scandal however, while speaking with People about her upcoming PBS docuseries airing in early 2018, We’ll Meet Again . Although she admits she’s still processing what happened, Curry did note that broadly, it signifies how Corporate America has overall let women down. “The women’s movement got us into the workplace, but it didn’t make us safe once we got there,” she said. She also offered some words of support for the accusers who were brave enough to come forward: “I a

Apple's macOS High Sierra bug fix comes with a new bug. Seriously.

Uh-oh, Apple.  After fixing that embarrassing macOS High Sierra bug that let anyone create a root account on a Mac without a root password, Apple introduced a new bug, albeit one far more benign.  The security update 2017-001, described here , indeed fixed the nasty vulnerability in High Sierra 10.13 and 10.13.1, but it completely messed up file sharing for some users.  SEE ALSO: MacOS High Sierra vulnerability was publicly disclosed in an Apple forum weeks ago Luckily, the new bug doesn't require a patch. Instead, users have to manually type out a command in the Terminal app. The steps, per Apple's support page, are as follows:  Read more... Report: CIA Director Mike Pompeo Will Replace Rex Tillerson, Who Is Being ‘Forced Out’

Getty Image After months of rumors of a continuously deteriorating relationship between Donald Trump and Rex Tillerson, the president’s secretary of state, the New York Times reports a new State Department head will soon be installed. CIA Director Mike Pompeo, who previously told administration officials that he was Trump’s favorite pick to replace Tillerson should such a replacement be necessary, will apparently take over the state department “within the next several weeks,” while Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) will occupy Pompeo’s old gig at the CIA. The Times is describing Tillerson’s coming ouster as being “forced out.” According to the report : It was not immediately clear whether Mr. Trump has given final approval to the plan, but he has been said to have soured on Mr. Tillerson and in general is ready to make a change at the State Department. John F. Kelly, the White House chief of staff, developed the transition plan and has discussed it with other officials. Under hi
