Man's condition improves in hospital after Côte-St-Luc stabbing
A 44-year-old man is in stable condition following a stabbing Saturday night in a Côte-St-Luc cinema.
Police received a called to the Cineplex Cinemas Quartier Cavendish at about 11:50 p.m after the victim was stabbed in the lower body in an altercation with a group of young men.
He was conscious when he was transported to hospital, his condition improved overnight and by Sunday he was out of danger, police said.
The young men fled the theatre on foot, but were stopped by police soon after in the mall parking lot.
Five men in their 20s were detained and questioned. They were released early Sunday morning, but could be recalled, police said, as an investigation, including an inspection of surveillance video, continues.
According to media reports the situation developed when the 44-year-old moviegoer told the young men, who were making noise during a movie, to be quiet.
