Get ready to talk Gideon the Ninth and Harrow the Ninth with Tamsyn Muir

Dear book clubbers,

To all of you who are celebrating, Merry Christmas! And to all of you who are not, happy day off! This is just a quick email to let you know that you can now RSVP to our live Zoom event with Tamsyn Muir on January 28 at noon Eastern. We'll be discussing Gideon the Ninth and Harrow the Ninth, and there will be time for audience questions. Click here to sign up!

In the meantime, our next discussion post will dig into Harrow the Ninth. Look for that on January 15, and get ready to talk second-person point of view, unreliable narrators, and dad jokes.

(And just in case you missed it, the Gideon discussion post is right here.)

the week in books at vox

For the end of the year, I did some reporting on a series of protests that rocked book publishing this year. Much like politics, publishing is an industry staffed mostly by idealists but consisting of mostly cynical and profit-driven systems. This year, that contradiction got harder to manage, in interesting ways.

Happy reading to all, and to all a good night.
