The man who bombed a crowded subway tunnel near Times Square in 2017 was sentenced to life in prison.

The bombing under the Port Authority Bus Terminal was the first attempted suicide attack in New York City since Sept. 11, 2001, and was one of several terrorist attacks in recent years in which law enforcement has said that a lone wolf, inspired by a foreign group, carried out an attack on civilians in the city.
