Got maskne? There's a £12 solution for that
Got maskne? There's a £12 solution for that Sick of face covering-induced maskne? 111Skin has launched a bacteria-fighting face mask you're going to actually want to cover your face with Zak Maoui Maskne is a type of breakout caused by the constant friction of face mask material on the skin around your mouth. Known medically as "acne mechanica", it is triggered by pores around your mouth being blocked by sweat, oil, make-up and bacteria. This, in turn, causes outbreaks of bulbous blemishes, irritation, redness and the sort of inflamed hair follicles you've been fighting to get rid of since you began shaving in your teens.
Luckily, skincare powerhouse 111Skin, which is the go-to brand for skin-savvy celebrities such as Kim Kardashian and Bella Hadid, has just launched a sheet mask that is designed specifically to put a stop to maskne. What's more, it's only £12 – AKA the price of two pints of beer.
Each biodegradable Anti-Blemish Bio Cellulose Mask packs a punch when it comes to skin-saving ingredients. Micro algae promotes clear skin by balancing the skin's microbiome, aloe vera calms redness and lactic acid works to reduce inflammation. Meanwhile, hydroxycinnamic acid, which is a plant-based phytochemical, has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties and works to combat unhealthy bacteria, while sodium ascorbate, a stabilised vitamin C, enhances collagen synthesis and brightens the complexion.
We have been trying the quick-fix masks out and can confirm they do the job. Within just a few hours of using one our skin felt cleansed, nourished and bacteria-free, while after 24 hours aggravated and sore-to-touch spots were already on their way out, redness was at bay and our complexions were as bright as if we'd had a 60-minute facial at 111Skin's Harley Street hotspot. What's more, the fine lines around the mouth were plumped and non-existent.
Heading out this weekend? Trust us when we say this is one mask you're going to want to put on by the end of it.
