Don't forget to do one BIG thing this summer... đŸ˜‰đŸŒ€

As the summer starts out, I just want to send a little email to remind you guys to have fun. In the past, during the summer, I have not used summer as an excuse to embrace the moment. As a Type A personality I always see everything that needs to be ...

As the summer starts out, I just want to send a little email to remind you guys to have fun. In the past, during the summer, I have not used summer as an excuse to embrace the moment. As a Type A personality I always see everything that needs to be done, and it means I have a pretty terrible track record in the "fun" department.

But as life goes on and I see how fragile it is, I realize I need to start embracing the last-minute marshmallow roasts, or the spontaneous rocking on the porch with a neighbor. Even if those things weren’t planned, they're important.

The perk of having a routine over a specific, time-bound schedule is that when something does come up you’re able to embrace it and then just resume your routine.

In my younger years what used to really trip me up was that I always worried if I went to have fun work wasn’t getting done. I was "getting behind" by the minute. What took me too long to realize is this: your to do list will always be there. The marshmallow roasts, the neighborhood pool party, the last-minute trip to the park - those things will not always be there, so don't skip too many of them.

This summer I’m learning to bust a move when I actually am working, and then when I’m not working to actually bust a move having fun. And I just thought maybe someone else also needed that reminder.

If you haven’t created a routine yet and it sounds like something that you’d like to do, you can always see my course here. That's literally what the course is all about!

I would love if you guys would follow along with our summer escapades through stories on Instagram. You can find me @humoroushomemaking on Instagram. We'll have fun, and you can keep me accountable.

Happy summer!!!
