European Union officials reached a deal to curb their natural gas consumption amid uncertainty over Russia's supply to the bloc.

The agreement calls on E.U. nations to slash their natural gas consumption by 15 percent between now and the next spring, and signifies an important step in managing the bloc's dependency on Russia as the Kremlin tries to punish Europe for its support of Ukraine.
