Big Chicken has left the race for the Republican presidential nomination, as Big Chickens will do and, this time, he pulled what we veteran observers call the Full Scott Walker, whereby you bail on the race before they roll out the starting gate. In 2016, he went out as El Caudillo del Mar-a-Lago's button man against Marco Rubio. This time, he went out on a hot mic, dismissing the entire Republican primary process as a farce somewhere between a WWF card and the 1919 World Series. |

| 2023 heralded a new frontier for the medium. But thousands of game workers were laid off, while many of their still-employed colleagues say they're suffering from low pay, long hours, harassment, and discrimination. What happens next? |

Funny how I trembled when I turned 40, more than a decade ago. How youthful 40 now seems. But I remind myself that at that middling age, when I wanted nothing more than to be a novelist, there was no published novel. I also had not wanted to be a father, that death sentence, yet that is what I became. When my son was born, my life, as I knew it, was over. I was 42. I had just finished the first draft of my novel, and my most important job was to watch over my son at night to make sure he lived. From late in the evening until 3:00 a.m., I rewrote the novel while watching little Oedipus sleep in the same room, swaddled on the futon. Anytime he stirred, I stuck a bottle of formula in his mouth. From 3:00 a.m. until his mother took over childcare duty at 5:00 a.m., I sipped my formula—single malt Scotch—and wondered: Was I a failure? Was I ever going to publish this novel? Was I middle-aged? How does one know for sure? |

"You know, I'm not going to sugarcoat it," Frances Tiafoe tells me just a few days before his first match in this year's Australian Open. "Straight up. I want to do this." This, according to the American tennis pro, is his dream of winning his first major championship. "I want to do it not just for me, but for my family, my partners, and for all the people who think they don't have the chance," he says. "I'm not going to lie to you and make it sound fly. It's just one goal." The 25-year-old has already achieved some massive victories. |

Periods are normal, but kids pointing them out in their sketches is something else. Australian woman Penny Rohleder shared a photo of her son's drawing on the Facebook page of blogger Constance Hall on Jul. 25, which well, says it all. SEE ALSO: James Corden tests out gymnastics class for his son and is instantly showed up by children "I don't know whether to be proud or embarrassed that my 5 year old son knows this," Rohleder wrote. "Julian drew a family portrait. I said 'What's that red bit on me?' And he replied, real casual, 'That's your period.'" Well, at least he knows. To give further context, Rohleder revealed she had pulmonary embolism in October 2016, and was put on blood thinning treatment which makes her periods "very, very bad," she explained to the Daily Mail . For centuries , humans have used fish oils, orally or topically, to treat a wide array of ailments, from aches and pains to rickets and gout. The popularity of this supplement has shifted over the years, as have its primary uses. But over the past couple of decades, the hype around fish oil has arguably reached an all-time high. According to National Institutes of Health statistics , in 2012, at least 18.8 million Americans used about $1.3 billion dollars worth of fish oil, making it the third most widely used supplement in the nation. (Sales reportedly flattened out at about that level around 2013.) Today, many use it because they believe it will broadly help their heart health , but others hold that fish oil can help with renal health, bone, and joint conditions, cognitive functions and mental wellness, and any number of other conditions. But is fish oil really as good for you as millions of Americans believe it is? Who should be taking it and when? We dove into the research and
