Sofia Coppola is one of the most stylish women I know. And like me, she's always seeking out the "perfect" version of a thing. Everything she has ever recommended to me has turned into an instant favorite. So, in celebration of New York Fashion Week, I asked her for her short list of favorite things and places in the city. |

Favorite coffee spot? For a coffee or a Negroni, Bar Pisellino. I love their little Italian sandwiches when you need a quick bite on the way to a movie or to go for a trip. And then McNulty's on Christopher Street is such a great and historic place to buy teas and coffee. Bite to eat? I like RedFarm on the Upper West Side for dumplings and EN Japanese Brasserie for classic Japanese food and beautiful flowers. You can reserve a tatami room for a small group for special occasions. Neighborhood go-tos? Thompson Chemists is a family-run pharmacy in SoHo where you get real customer service and European pharmacy products. I go to The Color House New York on Lafayette for film processing and to buy Kodak Portra 35mm film. For books, Three Lives & Company in the West Village. I love to go there and discuss books with the staff. Art? The Judd Foundation preserves Donald Judd's home in SoHo. Call for a private tour. Let's talk clothing. Denim? Favorite white tee? Socks? I go to the Levi's on Broadway for classic jeans. It has a great tailor and customization department, and you can bring your vintage Levi's in to get altered. This is my favorite white tee and these are my favorite cashmere socks. |

My brother, Riad, is a chef, and I have a standing weekly date at his restaurant Frenchette (which he co-owns with Lee Hanson) with my son, Lex. We always sit in the bar area. I love a bar vibe. This is our order: We usually start with the mortadella, and then we share half a roast chicken, and we always sub the mashed potatoes for french fries. I usually have two glasses of wine: whatever Jorge, the sommelier, tells me to have–nothing too funky. (For reds he recommends Lienhardt, Gamayoptère '22; Souhaut, La Souteronne '22; and Mosse, Cabernet-Franc '22. For a white, he suggests Le Grappin Mâcon-Villages.) Lex has a Coca-Cola and he gets ice cream when I'm on my second glass of wine. |
I go to Crystal Greene Studio for facials. I heard about her from one of my good friends, makeup artist Romy Soleimani. (She knows skin!) She tailors each facial to your skin. I recently got the La Sculpture facial, which Crystal describes as "a sculpting facial that targets the facial muscles to define the facial contours." Last time I went, she essentially picked my face up and put everything back to where it once was. I asked Crystal to divulge a bit more about how she managed to do that. "I custom blended an antioxidant serum to use with the Lyma Laser of CoQ10 and vitamin E to increase collagen production, boost cellular energy, and reduce inflammation," she said. "I blended a finishing serum at the end of the treatment of CM-glucan to soothe the skin and restore moisture, B vitamins to reduce hyperpigmentation and regenerate the skin, evening primrose to restore barrier function, and hyaluronic acid to smooth fine lines and wrinkles." |

I've been craving a little shine after this dreary slog of a winter. The high-gloss finish of a patent shoe feels like the perfect pop to update my same pants and tops. It's a tiny change that feels like a makeover. |
|
|
There's nothing to explain. Add these to anything and everything and go. Day to night. Weekday through the weekend. |
| I'm not sure what kills me more, the kitten heel or the baby-blue patent. My best friend Karyn lives in pencil skirts in the summer and I can totally see these on her feet. The shoes will work with just about everything. |

|
My basic rule is keep the basics and update the accessories. This shoe will be my go-to for an evening out. I'll throw them on with a classic tux trouser and a nice top but I imagine they would be perfect with a dress or even an oversize army pant. You feel me? |
| Every other summer, I buy a new pair of these shoes in white leather. They're the best summer shoes for running around the city. They look good with absolutely everything. I'm thinking they will look extra perfect in patent. Picture a perfect pair of jeans, white tee, and these. What's the problem? Oh, and they look better when they are a little destroyed, so don't worry about trying to keep them pristine. |

I love this whole look from Willy Chavarria's Fall 2024 collection. I love the exaggerated shoulder of the tuxedo blazer, as well as the combination of that jacket with the matching trouser that is sort of an elevated jogging pant. And it's all grounded with a very practical men's lace-up. It's a perfect look for day or night. I could wear that and feel totally ready for whatever comes my way. |

Periods are normal, but kids pointing them out in their sketches is something else. Australian woman Penny Rohleder shared a photo of her son's drawing on the Facebook page of blogger Constance Hall on Jul. 25, which well, says it all. SEE ALSO: James Corden tests out gymnastics class for his son and is instantly showed up by children "I don't know whether to be proud or embarrassed that my 5 year old son knows this," Rohleder wrote. "Julian drew a family portrait. I said 'What's that red bit on me?' And he replied, real casual, 'That's your period.'" Well, at least he knows. To give further context, Rohleder revealed she had pulmonary embolism in October 2016, and was put on blood thinning treatment which makes her periods "very, very bad," she explained to the Daily Mail . For centuries , humans have used fish oils, orally or topically, to treat a wide array of ailments, from aches and pains to rickets and gout. The popularity of this supplement has shifted over the years, as have its primary uses. But over the past couple of decades, the hype around fish oil has arguably reached an all-time high. According to National Institutes of Health statistics , in 2012, at least 18.8 million Americans used about $1.3 billion dollars worth of fish oil, making it the third most widely used supplement in the nation. (Sales reportedly flattened out at about that level around 2013.) Today, many use it because they believe it will broadly help their heart health , but others hold that fish oil can help with renal health, bone, and joint conditions, cognitive functions and mental wellness, and any number of other conditions. But is fish oil really as good for you as millions of Americans believe it is? Who should be taking it and when? We dove into the research and
