Nobody who loves It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia or works on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia ever wants to think about what the show will do if Danny DeVito passes away while it's still on the air. Luckily, Frank's final arrangements are crystal clear.

It's no small miracle that, at 80 years old, DeVito is still willing to go to work on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia every season and debase himself to new extremes without any hope for a second Emmy. When DeVito joined the show as Dennis and Dee Reynolds' long-lost (and secretly illegitimate) father back in 2006, neither he nor FX could have expected the upstart sitcom about a bunch of asshole alcoholics living in Philadelphia to last another 20 years and 15 seasons without showing any signs of slowing down. Thankfully, and much like DeVito himself, Always Sunny continues to get real weird with it decades later.

Rob McElhenney may not be a member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but, today, on his 48th birthday, McElhenney has finally joined the even-more-exclusive ranks of the "Background Actors in The Proposal" Club.

This year, McElhenney's birthday comes at an unfortunate time for the beloved It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia creator and Wrexham A.F.C. co-owner. His second acclaimed comedy series, Mythic Quest, just got canned by AppleTV+, which will stream the revised Season Four/series finale of Mythic Quest this Wednesday before it's a sudden game over for the workplace comedy. Over the past year, McElhenney has restarted work on his flagship franchise Always Sunny ahead of its Season 17 premiere, he flew out to the set of Deadpool & Wolverine to appear in a single scene underneath heavy costuming that would have obscured his face, and then learned that his professional, creative and life partner Ryan Reynolds cut him out of said blockbuster film after all they'd been through.
