Lifeword Monthly - April 2025

Featured Language: Ewe

The Ewe (pronounced “Eh-weh”) language is primarily spoken in the countries of Ghana, Togo, and Benin in West Africa. Over 3 million people speak Ewe as a first language, with many more using it as a second language in multilingual areas. The Ewe people are one of the major ethnic groups in this area. While many Ewe today practice Christianity or Islam, traditional religious beliefs are still prevalent, involving the worship of Mawu (the Supreme God) and numerous lesser deities and ancestral spirits. Vodun (Voodoo), which originated in this region, is part of the traditional spiritual heritage. Lifeword's Ewe speaker, Emmanuel Akpor, shares a weekly devotional on Lifeword.org telling the Ewe people the truth and gospel of Jesus Christ. Would you pray for him as he continues to share the Good News with the many spiritually lost people in his culture?
