| May 10, 2025 Welcome to Cosmo's new and improved shopping newsletter. I'm Meg Uy, a shopping editor here at Cosmo, and this is Let's Talk Shop—aka my tiny corner of the internet, where I share my favorite finds and current obsessions. If you've been subscribed for a while, things might look a bit different, but here's what you can look forward to: As an editor who tests products for a living, I'll be giving you the raw, unfiltered scoop on what's trending, what's worth buying, and what actually makes it into my cart. You'll also get a peek at my personal outfit snaps along the way. Today, I have for you The Download—a recurring series where we discuss a trend that's been consuming my every waking thought (or at least my FYP). |

| ELEVATED FLIP-FLOPS WILL BE MY ENTIRE PERSONALITY THIS SUMMER |
There are flip-flops and then there are flip-flops, okay? |
|
|
Don't get it twisted, flip-flops have never fallen off the style map. If anything, they're one of the few shoes that have truly stood the test of time in the ever-shifting fashion world. (And that's no small feat, considering that micro-trends come and go by the week.) But here's the thing: The thong sandals you used to know have leveled up. I'm not talking about those flimsy rubber pairs you grabbed last minute before a beach trip that'll literally poof and become dust after the third wear. These days, flip-flops are elevated, refined, and actually worth building an outfit around. |
|
|
And dare I say it? In 2025, they will be the summer shoe. We saw them on the Etro and Ferragamo spring/summer '25 runways. Then they popped up paired with tailored trousers and maxi dresses in street style roundups, and, worth noting, Kylie Jenner even wore a pair at Coachella last month. In this new era, flip-flops have serious range, from sleek kitten heels to sculptural wedges, luxe leather, chunky platforms, beaded embellishments, square-toe silhouettes, and woven and raffia textures. The list goes on!

| So whatever you thought about the footwear before, it's time to open your mind. And if you've been rooting for their come-up all along? Keep that energy, bestie. Because as a shopping editor who scrolls through a lot of shoe trends, I'm calling it: From now until September, the toes will be out, the pedi will be fresh, and the flippie-floppies will be serving way more than poolside vibes—that's for damn sure. |

- Public make-outs? Need more of that energy.
- Sorry, enough with the celebrity beauty brands already.
- Marvel movies are all spectacle, no substance.

Imagine having a laugh so infectious, even animals join in on the fun. Taken at what looks to be a kind of farming expo, this interviewee's laugh is so contagious, it managed to get the chickens going. Per Australia's Nine.com.au , the segment is from RTV Noord's Expeditie Grunnen. Mid-interview, the pair begin to laugh and everything just escalates from there. SEE ALSO: Despite health risks, adventurous food lovers are trying raw chicken in Japan In all honesty, this may be the purest video on the internet. Periods are normal, but kids pointing them out in their sketches is something else. Australian woman Penny Rohleder shared a photo of her son's drawing on the Facebook page of blogger Constance Hall on Jul. 25, which well, says it all. SEE ALSO: James Corden tests out gymnastics class for his son and is instantly showed up by children "I don't know whether to be proud or embarrassed that my 5 year old son knows this," Rohleder wrote. "Julian drew a family portrait. I said 'What's that red bit on me?' And he replied, real casual, 'That's your period.'" Well, at least he knows. To give further context, Rohleder revealed she had pulmonary embolism in October 2016, and was put on blood thinning treatment which makes her periods "very, very bad," she explained to the Daily Mail .
