Sculptor Ben Mazey takes familiar, domestic objects and reimagines them in slab-built ceramic and bronze. With global influences ranging from his childhood in New Zealand to stints in Italy, London, and Shanghai, as well as seven years in Paris working as Kenzo's design director, his works are bold, brilliant and always surprising. His current exhibition at C. Gallery, May the Burns I Bridge White the Lay, features a fireplace with built-in vases, totems and painted ceramic wall pieces. Visit C. Gallery, 50 Davis Avenue, South Yarra. |

Pre-ordering a book is a gorgeous gift to self; a little anticipation never hurt anyone. You'll have to wait until 30th September for this Phaidon publication, but we promise it will be worth it. Yves Saint Laurent and Photography focuses on the genius of couturier Yves Saint Laurent as captured by the 20th century's most legendary photographers: Richard Avedon! David Bailey! Helmut Newton! Annie Leibovitz! It's a clash of the titans and a feast for the eyes (and the coffee table). |
| When a restaurant serves only one dish, that dish had better be good. Thankfully, at Sydney's newest diner, 24 York, that dish is perfection. Steak-frites as made by the Rockpool group chefs means grass-fed Black Angus scotch fillet sourced from renowned Gippsland producer O'Connor Beef, shoestring frites fried in tallow, a choice of sauces – and that's pretty much it. Inspired by Parisian bistros, it's stylish, simple, and seriously sensational. |
