Slowing down is something many of us aren't good at. We live in a fast-paced world, so finding time to sit and simply be can be a monumental challenge. But in 2026, I've decided to wage war against the pressure to always be 'on', starting with my evenings.
In a bid to wind down before bed (rather than rushing around trying to tick off random pieces of life admin), I've started setting a 9pm bedtime alarm on nights when I'm at home. After this time, I'm not allowed to do anything productive or overly stimulating: my only job is to unwind so I'm ready to fall asleep. I usually go to bed around 10.30pm, so that means I have about an hour and a half completely to myself to do as I please.
So far, I've been using that time to watch TV, do some mindful colouring (I've just ordered myself a box of TikTok's favourite Ohuhu markers) and tend to my skin care routine. It's become a period I look forward to every day, and it's given me more motivation to get odd jobs done earlier in the evening, so I'm able to enjoy that time to the fullest.
Whatever your resolutions are for 2026, I hope you've found some time this week to look after yourself. And if you're yet to set some goals (but really want to), you'll find a guide in this email to working out which areas of your wellness you should focus on this year. There's also a round-up of kitchen items that'll help you make your food more nutritious, as well as some fascinating insight on bloating from a gut health dietitian.
I hope you enjoy the first edition of our new Well by Stylist newsletter!
