Travel Newsletter
Some trips are about the beach. Some are about the culture (and some are about handing the kids a waterslide and not seeing them until dinner). This issue covers all of it—5 properties across the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Maui, and Scottsdale that each make a strong case for why you should already have a tab open looking at flights. From the newly renovated crown jewel of downtown Nassau to a boutique hotel tucked into the cobblestone streets of Old San Juan, here's where to stay.

Margaritaville Beach Resort Nassau
Nassau, Bahamas
Located right on the downtown harbor, Margaritaville Beach Resort Nassau is one of the Bahamas' premier destinations for 2026. The resort tower holds 155 oceanfront rooms and 12 suites, every one with a private balcony facing the water, and the One Particular Harbour tower next to it is set up more like residential living if you need the space. For families, kids will not want to leave Fins Up Water Park, which has a lazy river, slides, and a FlowRider surf simulator. There is an adults-only pool deck with the SOS Bar (best around sunset). 13 places to eat and drink on the property in total, including JWB Prime Steak and Seafood if you want a real dinner, Frank & Lola's for Italian, Graycliffs Sky Lounge for cocktails and music at night. Icons next door has a bowling alley and a movie theater in it. Bay Street, the Straw Market, and the Fish Fry are all walkable. Visit the Crown Jewel of Downtown Nassau.

Atlantis Paradise Island
Paradise Island, Bahamas
Atlantis Paradise Island covers 171 acres on Paradise Island and has been a fixture in the Caribbean for decades. Five places to stay, built for different kinds of trips: the recently updated Royal Towers, family-oriented rooms at The Coral, apartment-style units at The Reef, quiet suites at The Cove, and villas at Harborside for bigger groups. Aquaventure runs 141 acres on its own, and the Leap of Faith slide sends you through a shark lagoon on the way down. The marine habitat is the largest open-air one anywhere, 50,000 creatures across 14 lagoons, plus The Dig, an underwater ruin you swim through. Food is where the resort pulls ahead, with Michael White's Paranza, José Andrés' Fish, a Nobu location, Cocodrilo for coastal Mexican, and the first Shake Shack in the Caribbean. A $150 million renovation just hit the casino, rooms, and retail, adding storefronts for Tiffany and Jacquemus, and Mandara Spa is now open with a fresh redesign. Marina Village sits right outside with shops, artisans, and mega-yachts in view.

ALMA San Juan
San Juan, Puerto Rico
Old San Juan has been accumulating history for more than 500 years, and ALMA San Juan puts you squarely in the middle of it. The 56 rooms lean into the city's colonial character—sand and wood tones, arched windows, iron chandeliers, cascading greenery, and artwork by local artists throughout. Balcony suites look directly onto Plaza Colón, one of the most storied public squares in the Americas. Beyond the door, the blue cobblestone streets of Old San Juan reward wandering: El Morro and San Cristóbal frame the coastline, the bar that invented the piña colada is a short walk away, and the surrounding blocks are dense with restaurants, shops, and monuments that make it easy to lose an afternoon. For cruise passengers passing through the port, the location is particularly well-situated. For everyone else, it's simply one of the best bases in the Caribbean.

Nāpili Surf Beach Resort by Castle
Nāpili, Maui, HI
Nāpili Bay is one of those beaches that makes the rest of Maui feel like a warm-up act. Nāpili Surf Beach Resort by Castle sits right on it. Studios and one-bedrooms come with full kitchens and private lanais—meaning you can actually live here for a week instead of just sleeping here. Two heated pools are surrounded by tropical gardens if you need a break from the ocean, which you probably won't. Sunsets face west toward Molokaʻi and Lānaʻi, and they're as good as advertised. The resort runs oceanfront yoga three mornings a week, a Friday breakfast with a local feel, and monthly Hawaiian music on the lawn—none of it mandatory, all of it worth knowing about. The Kapalua Coastal Trail, golf, snorkeling, and a few more beaches worth your time are all within walking distance. One of West Maui's best-positioned properties for guests who actually want to use the island.

Omni Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Montelucia
Scottsdale, AZ
Camelback Mountain as the backdrop, Spain as the design brief. Omni Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Montelucia nails the vibe—archways, tiled courtyards, hand-carved wooden doors, and 293 rooms and suites that manage to feel genuinely transported rather than themed. Three pools sit beneath swaying palms for the kind of afternoon that requires no agenda. Joya Spa runs on Moorish influences and earned its reputation the old-fashioned way. Prado handles dinner with wood-fired tapas and paella; Mbar pours sangria with live music as the sun drops behind the mountain—a nightly ritual worth planning around. Taqueria Centro covers the casual end with views of the Arizona landscape that hold their own against anything on the plate. Sixteen event venues make it a go-to for weddings and corporate retreats, but the property earns its place on a leisure list just as easily. One of Scottsdale's most distinctive resort addresses.
